Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the southeastern region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks overnight. A minor died and several individuals were wounded.

The strikes succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

Authorities told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the national power system, with assaults already affecting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
